We have been having lots of questions about custom indicators. Here you can find an example. We know it's a bit difficult to include custom indicators but we are working to make it easier.
Moving Average Strategy using a custom indicatorTwo moving averages can be used to create a forex strategy with these rules:
•Buy when the short period (9) moving average is above the long period (18) moving average
•Sell when the long period (18) moving average is above the short period moving (9) average
Just note, that the TA on the right connected to a SELL block does not use the standard Moving Average indicator. Instead, it uses a custom indicator.
Custom indicators must be located in the indicators directory (C:\Program Files\MetaTrader 4\experts\indicators for standard installations of MT4) and must be compiled - a .ex4 file must exist. This strategy uses Moving Averages.ex4 which is provided with the MetaTrader installation.
When entering the information for the custom fields remember to use the right format. As explained here
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10How do I find out the variables of my custom indicator? The variables of your custom indicator are visible in MetaTrader when you add the indicator to a graph. See the image below.
